Get To Work
« on: Apr 05, 2015, 11:50AM »
Now that the first expansion has dropped, what do you guys think?

I only just got my copy yesterday so I haven't done a lot, but so far the new doctor career is pretty interesting. I was a little confused at first because it seemed like I was waiting forever to treat the patient, but then I realized I forgot to do something. The illnesses I've encountered are kind of amusing: bloaty head, starry eyes, llama flu. I think I remember something about giggling and gas? Most of the time it was pretty easy to handle, but occasionally my sim hadn't advanced enough to do anything so she had to pass them on to another doctor.

There are a few things that bug me though. There is no shortage of patients waiting to be seen in the lobby but there aren't many doctors. I've seen two others beside my sim, plus the receptionist. Sometimes it's just my sim and one other doctor, and that guy kind of just stands in front of one patient and they never get treated. So in addition to taking care of my own, I have to run over to treat his as well, while he just stands there and watches. On the occasion there's two other doctors, I can transfer a patient to them as told to... but only if I engage them in small talk first. Otherwise she just keeps on analyzing and it drops from the queue, while the timer continues to burn through the hours and not fulfilling my duties.

I'm looking forward to trying out the new photography and baking skills, and I'd love to open some sort of store for either. Perhaps it's the perfect time to make my starving artist sim who lives in the shipping container...

Get to work is a pretty awesome addition to the game.  I of course still love TS2 but TS4 is a good game.

I've since played a little with owning a bakery. It's fun though I wish the restocking was kind of like Sims2, where it wont restock unless you already have the item sitting in your inventory (or in the fridges), instead of just buying new ones. Really expensive.

But I agree, GTW is a nice addition :)

I haven't owned a business yet.  I think everything in the game is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to buying anything even the meals.  They are not like TS2 I don't know if it is like TS3 'cause I don't play that version but I heard there was a mod to adjust the expenses but I don't really worry about the money I cheat with the money in TS4 but not TS2.

Not sure, the only mods I have for GTW are to shorten the time it takes to ring up a customer and make the employees more involved. The wait time was definitely better but I can't remember how much the employee activity improved. It's been a while since I've played.

I should look up that mod though. It's annoying to have to save up points to use the perks.

I don't even know what you are speaking cause I didn't experience that yet.  I have been working on the science career but now I don't have my pc so I am kind of stuck.  Plus I was doing the homeless challenge in TS2, lol.  #missesherpc

I don't think I know the homeless challenge. I'll have to go look it up.

It's at MTS, it's sad for me to see my little sim struggle.
