Getting Started [WIP -Please do not post yet]

The Official UYS Breeding Challenge is a Sims3 round robin in which multiple players build a breeding establishment for horses, and/or cats and dogs. The player who elects to begin will produce an offspring and when they have played the length of the round, they must then be exported to share with the next player. Each player, real life permitting, will play four rounds.

In the allotted time you will be required to take photographs from a list of prompts and meet objectives listed here.

A list for quick reference during gameplay.

  • Build your estate. It can be all on one large lot or you may have several in a cluster of land. You may download a premade lot.
  • Create at least one pair for breeding. You may create others or adopt, if you wish.
  • While not an actual rule, it is recommended that you consider extending adult lifespans to allow more time for pairs to improve relationships enough to breed and meet goals.
  • Do not enter a cheat to alter a sim or animal's skill level. Lifetime rewards are allowed, however, as they are earned.
  • Occasionally genetic mishaps can occur, such as misplaced eel stripes, spots that are with the animal, but not on, and features that just flat out don't exist on their parents. For this reason you are permitted to fix such screw-ups with either the Master Controller or the testingcheats enabled cheat.

    TCE Instructions
    - CTRL + Shift + C brings up the the cheat box.
    - Type testincheatsenabled true to turn on TCE.
    - Shift + left click the sim/animal and you can put them in CAS.
    - Edit as needed, but keep as original as possible!
    - Type testingcheatsenabled false to close TCE.

  • Because everyone plays different lifespans, rather than share the animal when they have reached 12 days old (for example), it is instead required to do so when they are 5 days from elderhood.
  • While in CAP readying the received animal to join your estate, you may only alter the accessories they wear. Markings, coloring, and hair length must remain as is.
  • To prevent inbreeding, it is required to adopt or create a new animal for the start of every new round.
  • You may only change the personality traits of the animal passed down to you by using the Attitude Adjustment lifetime reward.

Whether you prefer to be a relatively large estate or small, with one large lot or several spread out across the world, you must start a thread with the following information:

Post One

WHO ARE YOU?
Post the estate's name and accompanying photo no larger than 750x750, preferably the exterior. List the owner(s) and any services you offer in addition to breeding. A short bioagraphy about the history of your estate is optional.

YOUR FACILITIES
Tell us about your estate. Where is it located? How many can you accommodate? If you occupy more than one place, what are they like and whereabouts are they in relation to your stables?

Posting images: If you choose to list all amenities you may either link to a photo of each one, or you may post one photo of the map showing us where each is located. Hell, do both if you want. I understand wanting to show off your hard work.

THE ANIMALS
In this first post, with text only, list each of your animals, their breed, sex, coloring, parentage, and any title they may have acquired.

Any new animals born at your establishment will be added to this list as they arrive.

Post Two

ANIMALS ON-SITE
Post at least one picture of each animal with their name. Because UYS has a rule that prohibits more than 10 images per post, we ask that any additional photo of each animal be in link form.

If you plan to breed all three animal types, it is recommended that you make a separate post for each. Due to more animals being added to the list at any time, please make a reserved post immediately after each animal type to allow for overflow. See this photo to clear up any confusion.

To other participants: please refrain from commenting until the thread creator has made their reserved posts.

It is recommended that you name your young in a way that will be easily identified among other players. For example, use your initials or abbreviations of the estate name.

Example 1
Name/initials/registered name = Sid NMD Obsidian Dawn

Example 2
Estate abbr./registered name = LG Aurora Sky

Each player must create a second thread to share their progress. While you don't have to share everything, you are at the very least expected to post the images related to the photo challenges or any competitions to prove they have been completed.

If you want to keep your kennel or cattery posts separate from your stable progress, feel free to make new threads for them.

When the time has come to pass on the animal to the next player, you must access the create a sim/pet screen by choosing the change accessories/edit saddle option in their menu. While in CAS/CAP screen you will see your animal's thumbnail down at the bottom of the screen, accompanied by three dots. Clicking this will give you the option to share via the exchange or save pet, which drops the sims3pack into your Saved Sims folder.

Not all members have an EA account so it might be best to upload to something like box.net or set up a dropbox account (which I am biased to... you can access it anywhere and it really simplifies the process). Then you would simply share the link via PM.
