Sims 2 Discussion / Building - What's Your Style?

I actually plan a lot of my houses out on grid paper beforehand without even loading the game.  I think it's made me better at building.  Most of the time I can now make houses that fit on smaller lots, are interesting, and are easier to play a family in.  Instead of using a lot of building cheats, I try to design a house that's cohesive and not just a bunch of randomly added rectangles like when a legacy gets money for an addition to the house.  Sometimes I try duplicating real life houses but not very often.

So what's your building style?

I've read lengthy excerpts and studied the plots online.  From what I've researched, the writing is terrible and the morals are not cool.  Stalking and messing with one's property are NOT romantic.  The books are obviously written from a Mormon perspective, as the ultimate thing is to get married and have kids.  I actually worry that impressionable preteen girls are going to think all this stuff is a romantic ideal.
