Title: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Jun 21, 2015, 10:26AM
Guest what?  There is a comic con next weekend and guess who thinks she's going?  That's right this person writing the message.  I have no clue of the people going but I just want to walk around and look.

http://mississippicomiccon.com/

Cool huh?  We were just talking about this.

Ohh, that's cool! Glad you found something! :D

I don't know most of the guests or artists, but I know the inclusion of the Impala from Supernatural US episodes would interest a friend of mine. Hell, would me as well, it's a beautiful car.

Have fun!!

I am so lost, lol.  I have only seen a few episodes of Supernatural even though I think I have the first 2 or 3 seasons lol.  I did see something that peeked my interest.

If you select vendors and scroll down to RUSSELL SMITH they have collectible toys.  I like Sesame Street's Grover.  He's hard to find.  I try to get him whenever I see him.

Wow there's a lot of interesting stuff in there!

Soooooo I went.  My back started hurting after about an hour of walking around.  I left around 12ish.  I am going back tomorrow.  I bought a few things.  None of what I really went there for.  I wanted some Grover items and the lady didn't bring them :( oh well.  It was not what I thought but it was what I expected.  I didn't think that many people would be there a lot of people dressed up.  Maybe next year I will.  I doubt it, but we will see.

Aww man, that sucks about the Grover stuff :( I can't imagine any convention having a small attendee number, and I don't doubt for a second there were a lot of people dressed up. Seems to be the fun thing with them, and I'll give them credit cause some people really pay attention to detail and go all out with it!

Yes.  I was really glad I prepaid and had head of the line privileges vices waiting in a long line.  Some of them looked really good. I am not into that sort of thing only for Halloween or costume parties.  If I do dress up next time maybe a silly character or as Garnet http://steven-universe.wikia.com/wiki/File:Steven_Universe-_Garnet's_Gauntlets.PNG or Storm but I am going to have to do some serious working out.

Oh nice, that was quite helpful! :)

I'm not much for costumes myself, but I am pretty awkward in my own skin to begin with, so... lol. Some people are crazy creative though. It's really neat to see! If you do decide to do something next time, I want to see pics! :)

Of course I will share.  It a little strange going by myself but fun nevertheless.  I got some cool looking posters (not full size) I am going to frame them.  I always got an Olaf and tomorrow I plan on getting a Storm toy.  I like buying stuff that's my major problem.  There is a man there with some soap.  I really want to buy some but I have super sensitive skin which makes me leary of buying the soap it does smell great though.... ;D  Plus it's all natural.  I could buy it and give it away as presents.  We will have to see.  After tomorrow I will try to take pictures and plug them into this post.  Oh I got a Betty Boop waitress for my good friend for 5 bucks thinking I might resale it, lol not sure.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Jun 27, 2015, 08:13PM
Ooh, natural homemade soap is fabulous. They'd definitely make great gifts :) I hope you'll be able to find something that doesn't upset your skin.

I think I would feel weird going by myself too, but I think there's so much to see and do that you just kind of get passed it and start having fun anyway.

Yes two different booths had handmade soaps.  The one where I am buying it from tomorrow is called "monkey farts" but the guy changed the name since it was a comic convention.  Another called  theirs "unicorn farts" but it had no scent.  Why even name it?  I was disappointed I couldn't smell the scent of unicorn farts (has recently started likely them, not sure why).

Wow, quite the haul! Is Betty Boop on the bigger side or are those little toys near her especially small? Actually they must be pretty tiny considering the size of her tag. Damn, that's insane, lol.

Looks like it was a pretty successful second day :P
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Jun 29, 2015, 08:35AM
This toys are super small, I think they are charms.  Betty is small. That's a two day collection.  Now I need to find some frames for a decent price.  I will probably go to Michaels.  What kind of craft stores are in your area?
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Jun 29, 2015, 12:14PM
We have Michaels, a fancy more artsy place called DeSerres (that have a great custom framing area), and I'm sure there's probably some US companies over in Ontario. A lot of places don't come to Quebec because of the language laws. Govt is currently after some companies to try and force the french translation (Costco and Old Navy come to mind).

There are a lot of Michaels out towards Montreal but we just got ours in Sherbrooke (40ish minutes away) this spring in the old Best Buy building. I was excited about it but I've yet to go, lol.

You are too funny.  I will most likely got to Michaels or Joann.

Are there any AC Moore's around? There's one close to my hometown. My mom prefers it over both Michaels or Joann. I've only been a couple times but there's tons of really nice stuff there.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Jul 03, 2015, 07:05AM
Your mother would be correct, I think AC Moore's prices are better they don't have a fabric :(.  I don't have an AC Moore here, I believe it's more of a east coast northern thing.  When I lived in Connecticut I would go there and stay for at least an hour looking for the deals.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Jul 03, 2015, 11:15AM
Oh okay, I thought they did have it :/ I'm not sure about Michaels or Joanns, but I know AC has some sort of points system thing cause my mom saves a bunch of money that way too.

Lol, the few times I went we were in there quite a while too.

You could really get lost in a craft store if you are a true crafter...I'm a poser.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Jul 03, 2015, 10:43PM
Growing up there were always craft projects going on in my family. My dad's sisters were really into it and they got my mom going too. She made me a ton of neat barbie furniture out of plastic canvas and yarn. They made decorations, knitted, mom and I  dabbled in scrapbooking for a while, and I remember making all kinds of really atrocious looking christmas ornaments out of those pipecleaner things and beads. I'm kind of surprised I never had a bedazzler, lol.

I have a bunch of stuff but I haven't done all that much lately. The last few years I made a bunch of christmas gifts. One year I made a lot of small ornaments because my friend gets small trees and said they had trouble finding some. I made my mom a jewelry cabinet using a painted bamboo utensil tray with hooks and a most of a bulletin board for the door (I swapped the corkboard for etched plexi glass). I think it was the same year I made a horseshoe necklace for a friend out of hammered wire. Last year I made polaroid coasters for both my grandmother, and my brother and his girlfriend. I also made a custom glass set with a sandblasted bubble design (which came out so good I didn't really want to give it away, lol). Made my aunt a set of vanilla candles with cinnamon sticks secured around the outside with hemp cord and black ribbon.

I have more beads and wire than anything though. I wanted to get good at wire wrapping things (mostly beach glass), and some of it went alright, but I haven't really been feeling it for a while.

OMG you we can be craft sisters.  If I told you all the craft stuff I had you would not believe me.  I really only crochet now but I have so much other stuff that I want to get into that it's a shame.  That's my passion retire from the military and own a small craft location to sell hand made things, that is what I wanted to do with my mom before she passed in 2012 and own a bread and breakfast with handmade gift shop items.  I still want to do those things to fulfill the need to have my mom be apart of it in in spirit.

I would love to see some of your work.  The horseshoe necklace is so cool.  My garage and craft room looks like and episode of hoarders so I haven't been able to work.  Now that I have moved to Mississippi the hoarding has started but not to heavy.  I want to create stuff not have stuff just because.  The walmart near my house has fabric on sale and on Thursday I went a little crazy.  I got some really cute fabric, now I just need to make stuff to give away and sale.

Aww, I'm sorry about your mom :( Sounds like that would have been really great and I'm glad you still want to do it. Something nice to look forward to :) I suppose having all the unused stuff is still good though cause it'll be there when you feel up to it, or have time.

I put pics of some stuff here (http://byebye-beautiful.tumblr.com/post/72158272272/a-while-back-i-mentioned-using-pinterest-for-gift), and the glasses (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/53663079/glasstest.jpg) I mentioned. I wont share pics of the polaroid coasters just because it's other people's faces who might not want them up.

Maybe you could start off selling your things on etsy.

I have given Etsy many thoughts and I am a big chicken.  I do want to create and sell so I am not sure why I am so afraid.  I told myself that I would have to be more dedicated to me and to everyone else.

All of your creations are so wonderful.  Thanks for showing them to me.

It definitely would have to be more of a commitment. Although if there's a time you're going to be be busy or away for a while (and you don't have any sold items to ship off) you can set it to "on vacation" and no one will be able to buy anything until you set it normal again. I don't know if that means they put your listing on hold and the time resumes when the store is live again or not. But still, I suppose it depends on how busy your store becomes.

Avelina has a store, as does her mother. When I stop being lazy and make some decent stuff I plan to open one myself.

Blergh, back to the real world today :(

The husband and I went to a music festival in Quebec City this past weekend for a Royal Blood and Foo Fighters show. RB played an hour set (they're pretty good live!) but shortly before FF came on it started raining and it just kept getting worse. Ended up with an ugly thunderstorm, and even with the flooding (water went over our ankles!) it still made for a really intense show for the four songs they were able to play before they had to cancel for everyone's safety. I last saw them was Montreal 2011 and if memory serves it was a 4 hour show (and it was SO good). This 20ish one was way more fun just because it was crazy. I hope they'll come back next summer, but even if they don't we decided we're going to go to the festival anyway.

Post by: ranabluu on Jul 13, 2015, 06:57PM
That's great you enjoyed the festival.  I am sorry to hear that you got rained on a four hour show is a long long time but at least you get your monies worth.  Did you eat lots of cool foods?  I really enjoy festivals but haven't been to any lately.  Maybe  I will start going to them next year.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Jul 13, 2015, 07:56PM
In all we got about an hour and 20ish minutes with the opening act. But Foo Fighters do tend to play as long as they can, lol. You end up leaving with dead legs, smelly, and half deaf. But it's awesome :P

I don't really tend to eat much in general when I'm out doing things because my nerves act up and I feel like crap. Even when there is absolutely no reason to be nervous, I am. At least until they start playing and I more or less become a different person. I don't know why I can't force myself to be that way all the time. Although, I'm better than I was.

Montreal has a lot of festivals throughout the summer too but we've never been to any of them. I know Coheed and Cambria is supposed to be playing one but I can't remember which, and Incubus is in Toronto for Edgefest on the 29th, but that's like 8 hours away.

So...I had intended on responding to the messages but something went haywire with my google chrome and it restarted my pc.  I deleted google chrome and I am just now getting to responding.

The Foo Fighters has a large catalog so I guess they really give the people what they want which is good.  I was thinking that if you were a sim you would have that icky green haze coming from your body...

I know about the nerves part I don't get it much anymore because I rarely go to places but I feel awkward a lot of the times so it's very hard for me to go places.  I feel people are always judging you. I like food so that helps me ignore them lol.

There is supposed to be this big festival in October.  I can't wait to attend it.  I would much rather a big bizarre or craft show....
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Jul 16, 2015, 08:21PM
I feel the same way! I know most people probably don't even notice me (I CAN be easily lost in a crowd with my height) but somewhere in the back of my mind I think they are. Maybe it's because I'm an observant person myself and I notice tiny things about people, and think others are picking me apart. Which is dumb because I shouldn't care. I'm trying not to do it so much and it's definitely better, but still.

Booo about your chrome freaking out! :( I haven't had any issues with them myself, but my husband has been having a lot of problems with firefox lately. Seems like it just randomly starts bleeding memory or something. I rarely use it.

A festival in october sounds fabulous, not gonna lie. I'd rather be a little chilly than too hot!
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Jul 17, 2015, 06:31PM
I really really liked Chrome but didn't like some of automatic updating. Hopefully firefox does me better.

I think once we get over our worries everything is better.  I really try and ignore people looking at me only because I don't think I should be made to feel uncomfortable because of how someone else looks at me.

I do hope I can make it to the festival.  I looked up some craft festivals and thinks I should start working on stuff to make more money instead of spending more.  My BF says I have to much stuff and I need to stop buying...he's so right.

Organized hardly but it's not a bunch of dead cats and dirty diapers.  It's all stuff of value.  I just need to stay away from the computer and other distracting stuff and get focused like someone else I know because they actually make wonderful things I just dream wonderful things lol.

Lol, the computer is definitely a trap sometimes. I find youtube especially bad for it. The other day I watched this really bizarre girl for hours doing reviews of random products and walking around thrift stores being her strange self. She's just so weird that I love her and I wish I was as comfortable in my skin as she is. Pinterest is another black hole, lol.

And hey, dreaming is a good start! ;)

You are soooo right black holes of pure guilty pleasures both of the ones you mentioned.

I have been away making stuff using both of them as references.  I need to get some more stuff to finish the projects.  I plan on running to the store tomorrow.  If I can finish them this weekend.  I will post a picture, but I make no promises lol.  Wishes there was an ac moore in my area :(.

MY problem is I tend to over spend on junk I don't need nor did I know I wanted until I show up at these things.  I always wanted to attend one so I did it and now I am like okay no big deal.  Although it was in Mississippi which means it probably would have been better if I was in a different location.

Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Aug 09, 2015, 04:52PM
My husband should've been around yesterday when I went shopping with his mom to keep me in line, lol. A store I've never been to was having a lot of sales but I was mostly there for shoes because there were tons 3 for $10, 2 for $20, etc. I knew what I wanted and only expected to pay about $50 with tax. But of course the details weren't clear and some shoes were in the wrong spots. They don't bother to tell you that some of the old collection isn't a part of it, so it's like... why put it there then? There was only one pair I didn't get that I had wanted and that was because the smallest size was a little too big. Which was a shame cause they looked really cute!

Anyway, I left with 4 pairs of flats and a pair of wedges, 5 pairs of no show socks... that show because my feet are a little small for them, and a sweater which I love so much. What sucks is that a lot of the shoes don't really fit the same even though they're all their own brand and the same size, so it ended up being rather difficult. There were some super cute lace flats I wanted but they were too loose and you wont be able to hide the no show socks in them. I only really got the sweater because apparently a bunch of other stuff qualifies for the sales... which isn't written anywhere -.- so when I couldn't find another pair of shoes in that sale type that fit right, the girl suggested I try it on. And by then it was passed their closing time and I felt bad they stayed behind to help me out. But they were really nice about it.

Unfortunately now I have like half the money I intended to go on vacation with. Ugh. So dumb.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Aug 12, 2015, 07:56PM
At least your feet will look good.  I don't look at sales as too bad of a deal as long as you use the stuff you buy.  You just can't spend as much when you get on vacation or you are going to have to get some really good deals.  I have a large foot and rarely find shows I like or on a great sale.  I rarely even look for shoes because I don't want to be disappointed if they don't have my size or the shoe doesn't fit.

It's strange that the same maker of shoe doesn't fit the same.  That sucks.  It's nice they stayed with you, but you were spending money so that's a plus for them.  If you have made them stay late and not gotten anything it would have been bad.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Aug 12, 2015, 11:20PM
Definitely, I think it would've been fair for them to ban me, lol. I keep getting emails from them and I'm just like NOOO, I CAN'T GIVE YOU MORE MONEY!! Lol, damn. But anyway, yeah, I feel mostly alright about it because I only had one pair of dress shoes after getting rid of some really old ones (from high school, ffs!), and they weren't really appropriate for some of the dresses I have.  And all the flats I got will work nicely both dressed up and down. The white ones look super cute with my skinny jeans, particularly. And to be honest, these days it's hard to get that many pairs of shoes under $90.

As far as vacation goes, I probably wont end up spending all that much anyway. I do need to go to Old Navy (it's 30 minutes from where we stay vs almost 2 hours away from where I live) to try on some jeans since they did away with my preferred line. I can't buy them in store because they almost never have the short length (which sadly is still slightly long for me), so I'll just make note of the color and size, and wait for a sale to buy them when I'm back home. Otherwise I wanted to pick up some more athletic shorts but those aren't bad, and I can't imagine I'll get many souvenirs as we've already been there twice, lol.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Aug 14, 2015, 10:24PM
That's a lot of shoes.  Lucky you.

You know I have the opposite luck at Old Navy.  I am always wanting long pants and they only have short or regular.  I like for my jeans and pants to have at least a 32-34 inseam.  I might go there tomorrow myself.  I think they cater to the people in the area so if it was a bunch of lanky people there would be more tall pants but since the people in San Antonio, Texas are short they tend to have short.  It makes me sad but it's okay.

I really loved Charlotte Russe's tall collection but over the past couple of years that has changed.  :(

That could be. Kayleigh has the same trouble actually. They do sell long lengths online, and if I remember correctly certain lines were supposed to carry extra long. I'm not sure what the inseam is on that though.

I really hate when they change :(

Yes it sucks.  I am not a perfect bodied person and tend to like the odd number sizes better than the even.  I hope you are enjoying your vacay.

To my surprise they had all lengths in store. Maybe because school starts soon. I got two pairs of jeans and these really cute pixie ankle pants... but they're still long for me, and some athletic shorts. Some of the colors fit in that awkward in between sizes thing, but I found some that worked pretty well.

So far vacation is going well. We got here earlier than usual but had a couple hours to kill because something came up and the cleaner was delayed. It's really buggy this year though because it's been pretty wet and they couldn't spray for mosquitoes. We got mauled pretty bad so we got bug spray tonight and it seems to be working. So maybe tomorrow we'll hit the beach a while before going out for our anniversary dinner.

Finally back after a long ride that seemed even longer with a persistent stomach issue. The cats were pretty happy to see us, and Dione has followed me around and napped with me since I got in the door. He also rubbed his face all over me so I guess that means I don't smell like his human anymore.

Post by: ranabluu on Aug 24, 2015, 07:33PM
That's good to hear besides your stomach problems.  I took my little crazy man with me to see his vets in Texas.  He didn't cry that much cause I had his cage in the front see so he could see me.  On the way back yesterday he was a really good little co pilot.  I am glad you enjoyed your trip.  I didn't have access to the net because my boyfriend somehow grabbed my modem and I somehow forget it here in Mississippi before driving to Texas.  I am super tired and will probably not drive back until November or December.  I have some projects that I want to run by you but I am going to post them in the appropriate spot, lol.

Aww I bet he liked being the copilot. I had a cat who liked to sleep in the back window but I can't remember which one it was... except that it's not one of the cats we have now.

I bet you are pretty tired!

Super tired was really the word.  I have so much going on in my life it's a crazy mess at the moment but I love the crazy mess.

He didn't cry that much which was really good.  He had the air blowing on him and he napped a lot.  If I was a better owner and had leash trained him he could have gotten out when I went to rest stops but I am not that good of an pet owner.  I just feed and house him. lol

Our older cat used to go for short walks when he was little. He pulled pretty hard, he was so excited. We didn't even need to put him in a carrier to go to the vets, he was chill to sit in the back quietly. One time we were taking our puppy (who we lost 7 years ago :() in the same day, and he got sick all over the place cause he wasn't used to riding yet. Passenger door was wide open while we tried to clean up on the side of the road, and the cat just kept sitting there. Now anytime he sees a chance to go outside he darts for the door. He pays attention to new people coming to the house as he knows they aren't aware of his shenanigans.

Crazy can be good sometimes! :)

I am sorry to hear about your pooch.  Yes crazy is good.  I have given Nicholas a chance to ride with no carrier but he curls  up under my feet.  That's not so good.  Someone told me about a cat in a bag type situation.  You put your cat in a bag and leave their head out and you can put them right next to you while you travel.  I really want to get a harness that attaches to the seatbelt where he can sit up and look.  Although he's a maniac at times he knows that crying isn't going to stop me from lugging him to the vet.  I will post a picture of how he was looking at me when I took him for shots last week.

Eep no, definitely don't want him under your feet! :S I've seen those bag things but I can't imagine my cats would accept their fate and not try to get out of it. The seatbelt harness thing could be pretty nice for him though :)

I sometimes forget that he's a cat because he does dog things from time to time.  But he's definitely a cat.  There was a man that came in my house yesterday and he ran and hid under the bed.  I didn't even know the guy was coming in so when I heard the noise I went to investigate.  Scared the crap out of me.  If that was a dog he would have barked or something.

He LOVES you after you have been around for like five minutes or so.  He's just so weird.  He tries to beat me up when I walk into the kitchen you know how cats sneak attack your feet and ankles that's him but whenever strangers come in the house he hides for a while.  I don't know what's wrong with him besides him being a cat.  He's a little cuttlebug that's a scaredy cat. I can promise you that I didn't do that to him, you know make him so scarey.  My boyfriend says that I baby him but I really don't.  He's a relaxed cat, doesn't get scared of lightening and thunder.  I think he adapts to my mood of relax and calm besides the hiding when people come in the house or ring the doorbell in Texas.

Ah I know you didn't make him that way, it's just who he is. My female was a barn cat that got left behind by her mother and we were the only family she ever had, and no one was mean to her. Guess animals have quirks just like people.

Little turd is correct.  Yesterday when I came home I was a couch potato and watched tv for way to long, he put himself in one of his cages.  What a crazy little cat....I am glad that I leave the cages out (I read it somewhere) they have all of his toys in there and some of his blankets.  He takes the toys out and I put them back in when I find them in my bed.

Awww, that's kind of cute :) My cats are lazy and won't play with toys anymore. Occasionally they'll chase the laser pointer but the dogs have more interest in that.

As for the dogs, they like to hide their toys under their blanket and wait for me to step on it.

Interesting.  My mom would buy those stupid big fish games until I took her into the dark side of game play.  I am so cheap I try to get three games for the price of one whenever we go to gamestop.  I get the silly games that are like 2 or 3 usd.  I haven't really clothes shopped in a while.  I have so many clothes with the price tag still on them, it's shameful.

Aside from the Elder Scrolls Online pre-order I can't remember the last game I bought. It's been a while 'cause I was trying to hold onto my money for vacation, replace jeans, etc. I finally just bought my friend her birthday gifts (it was in July!) and it wouldn't have been bad except that the exchange turned a $38+ purchase into $52. I now have $10 until my next pay. One lady owes me a bunch but she hasn't been back out yet so I have to fucking wait. I get that she's rich but she needs to remember the rest of us have bills to pay. She better come out this weekend.

Ohh wait, I did buy something recently. I forgot about the episodic Game of Thrones game. It was $25 and a new episode comes out every couple of months. Think there's one the end of September. Otherwise the last I bought were Bioshock Infinite and Little Big Planet 3, both which were marked down a lot as I'm a PS+ member. It also appears I bought Thief too; I thought I got it for free.

Sorry to hear about your finances.  Rich people do tend to forget that people need their money well even poor people don't like to pay you back.

The last game I bought was simcity for like 10 bucks from gamestop online.

My boyfriend on the other hand has been going game crazy.  He got far cry he returned it for batman which he returned it for madden.  I think he got something else but after he complained about the other games I just tuned him out.  He has a ps4 but we don't have a membership with playstation to get discounted games.  I think he's waiting on some shooting game to come out this month or next.  I want marvel alliance 2 it's old but it's priced like it's new :(.

I would have been ok if she'd come out Saturday like she was supposed to. It wasn't even my original job, it was my mother-in-law's, but I filled in for her because she fell behind when she got sick with pneumonia. So she did the neighbor's house while I did that one. This woman doesn't know I did it, so that's not the issue. She complained about the hours (she complains every time though, I'm told), but it's like, well, make your kids clean up after themselves and it wont take me 3 hours to do one big-ass attic room where they knocked over shit and didn't care, dragging the furniture all over the place. And the greasy hand prints everywhere, ugh!! Sorry, end rant -.-

Did he finish the games before he traded them in, or is was he just not interested in them/like them much? And ugh, I hate when old games still have the big price tag :(

He didn't like it so he didn't finish it.  He runs through games like women run through hairspray.  I guess that's why I like the sims there is no end.

Lol, like women and hairspray xD I forced myself to play Far Cry 4 the other night and it went okay, but I'd prefer to play the other stuff I have. Finally finished the survivor horror Outlast though! This guy's commentary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HKMX0UKzgg) during gameplay pretty much sums it up! Now I'm trying to finish up Thief.

Also, the woman is supposedly coming out this weekend.

I tried watching his videos before but his voice is so annoying in my opinion. I also hate watching videos that have the person in the side clip.  I watch him play the sims 4.

Did you ever watch DSP? https://www.youtube.com/user/DSPGaming

I watched his clips and found him to be funny but I stopped watching him, not sure why.  He is crazy, lol.  I watched Hard Rain and got interested but never played it. After posting this message I found out why I stopped watching him, he's not a good person.

Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Sep 23, 2015, 10:33AM
I could see that being an issue, especially with that game cause you have to do things pretty quickly sometimes. It was a little awkward at first even for me, but the more you do it the easier it gets.

It's SUCH a good game though. The story is sad to begin with, but their lifelike expressions, the atmosphere and the music... just makes it feel so much worse. Of course the ending changes depending on how you play, but when I got there, the kid was saved but his father was shot down coming out of the warehouse doors. I cried so hard... loud ugly sobbing! I mean, you go through the whole game trying to get his kid back, and then just... he's fucking dead and the kid now doesn't have a father. I think it was the first a game ever made me cry, and The Last of Us still gets me every time even though I've gone through it 7 or 8 times. But anyway, I can't say enough good things about Heavy Rain.

Lol, now I kind of want to play :P
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Sep 26, 2015, 07:46AM
I watched the game play of Heavy Rain, it does seem like it would be a great game to play but not for this chica.  I would not make it because of those danged buttons but you should replay it.  I know that playing it changes the ending isn't there a way for the dad and the son to both be saved?  That's a hard life for that little kid.

My boyfriend was like it's the big day and I was like for what he was like a new game came out this this was Wednesday or Thursday of this week, I was like okay what's the name of the game he was like "2k16" or something like that I was okay are you getting it and he was like no it's not in my budget.  I was like how much is the game "59.99", that's a lot of game.  I told him to get it if he wanted it.  I am sure he will get it this weekend when he finds a gamestop.

As you may have noticed he runs through games while I stack them in the garage for a rainy day.  I still have like one of the first tekken's on PS1 and PS2.  I keep games.  I am a hoarder....
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Sep 26, 2015, 05:20PM
Yep, it will change based on how you handle situations and I would imagine you could save both with the right actions. The first time I played I didn't manage to get the short haired woman out of that guy's basement and she died, but I saved her on my second play through. I don't think I've finished again yet though.

Ohh okay, it must be the new FIFA. Pretty sure that came out this week. Lol I wish the games I want were $60. I was price comparing the preorder for Uncharted 4 yesterday and, at least on the US amazon, it's $60 for the standard edition. Up here it's $80! Thank goodness it's not until March because I can put some aside for a while. Uncharted is one of the few franchises I'm willing to pay full price. I suspect the new Tomb Raider will be much the same, but I have no idea when the PS4 release is for that as Xbox is getting it first.

Don't feel bad, I hoard mine too! We have games kicking around for Sega Game Gear (though that's my husband's), Super Nintendo (we have an original Nintendo but I don't remember seeing any games when we packed up to move), PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and the PS Vita. Not to mention all the PC games my husband has in here. Most of them are really old.
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: ranabluu on Sep 27, 2015, 07:41AM
I know he's waiting on Uncharted as well.  He said it was a basketball game.  I honestly think those prices are too much for one game and the way he plays them is really horrible after he beats the game he doesn't play them anymore.  I have never seen or heard of that.  I can't believe he does that.  I guess that's why I should the cheap bins at gamestop the  buy 3 for one or I will go on EBAY.  I really hate that we let EA and other producers of games rob us blind like they do.  The technology has not changed that much in three years but the prices continue to increase.  If you have to release patches and updates then the game wasn't ready and the price is too high.

I have Disney Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 I got 2.0 last year now there's a 3.0.  Really?  Why?
Title: Re: Mississippi has Comic Con
Post by: yuichen on Sep 27, 2015, 11:12AM
I think some games definitely aren't worth the price they're asking, but others use some pretty impressive new engines with top-notch graphics and mechanics. For example, Uncharted. That is a crazy price tag, but it looks amazing. Comparing them to previous ones are huge... and I realize they're all on older consoles, but still... it still looks a lot better then some of the other current stuff out right now. And if a game as a multiplayer mode, it gives a person to keep playing it for a while. So if you're likely to do that it's kind if worth it because you wont just trade it in later.

There are a lot of great little indie games that are much more reasonably priced, super good, and pretty fun! I played one called Rain that was about a little boy who saw a girl being chased by a demon through the city... but it's in this dream state, I guess you'd say. So he's running through the city trying to find and help her, but they're invisible unless they're in the rain. It's short (and I'll admit I got it free with PS+). There is also Never Alone, which has this really beautiful and interesting storyline. It's rich with folklore and stuff from a particular group in Alaska, and you unlock all these little videos that tell you about it. There is also The Unfinished Swan, which basically has you going through a colorless world (initially) armed with paintballs that helps you expose the environment. Eventually shadows come into it, and the paintballs become water balloons to help plants grow and such... it's an interesting concept and I really liked it. There are some other indies that are throwback to old school games like Rogue Legacy and Shovel Knight.

But more than anything I think companies just keep churning out sequels and such because they know people will throw all kinds of money to have them. Like Assassin's Creed. They come out too close together and sometimes they're so glitchy. I haven't played most of them because I feel like all the ones I have were so alike it wasn't worth it, and according to what I've read they didn't really make the continued storylines conclusive. At least the first ones. At this point I think it's just money grubbing.
